Hormone Optimization & Weight Loss in Texas

Hormone Optimization & Weight Loss

“Your labs are normal.”  And yet here you are.

Hormonal imbalances are among the most underdiagnosed drivers of chronic symptoms — affecting energy, body composition, sleep, mood, and libido. Most patients who come to us have already been through the standard medical system and been told their labs are normal. Standard panels simply aren’t designed to catch the gap between sick and thriving. Our hormone optimization therapy program uses comprehensive testing to find what’s actually driving your symptoms and build a personalized treatment plan around your specific results.

Available via telehealth to patients throughout Texas. Schedule a free 15-minute consult if you have questions before booking, or request an appointment when you are ready to get started.

What We Test

We go beyond the standard TSH or testosterone check. A thorough hormone panel at Core Functional Medicine includes:

Thyroid

  • TSH, Free T3, Free T4, Reverse T3, Thyroid Antibodies (TPO, TgAb)

Sex Hormones

  • Estradiol, Progesterone, Total and Free Testosterone, DHEA-S, SHBG

Adrenal & Stress Hormones

  • Cortisol (morning), DHEA

Metabolic Markers

  • Fasting insulin, fasting glucose, HbA1c

Nutrient Levels That Affect Hormone Function

  • Vitamin D, Magnesium, Zinc, B12

Most patients who come to us with unresolved hormonal symptoms have had some version of these tests run before — but not all of them, and rarely interpreted together as a complete picture.

Hormone Imbalance & Weight Loss Resistance

Unexplained weight gain and the inability to lose weight despite diet and exercise are among the most common reasons patients seek hormone evaluation. The root causes we most frequently identify include:

  • Thyroid dysfunction — Even subclinical hypothyroidism slows metabolism, affects body temperature, and contributes to weight gain. We evaluate full thyroid function, not just TSH.
  • Insulin resistance — A significant driver of fat storage and weight loss resistance that often goes undetected until it progresses to pre-diabetes.
  • Estrogen dominance or low progesterone — Common in women in their late 30s and 40s; directly linked to hormonal weight gain, particularly in the midsection.
  • Elevated cortisol — Chronic stress keeps cortisol elevated, which signals the body to retain fat regardless of caloric intake.
  • Low testosterone — In both men and women, low testosterone affects muscle mass, metabolic rate, and body composition.

Addressing these at the root — rather than treating symptoms in isolation — is what allows the body to respond to lifestyle changes the way it should.

  • Are in perimenopause, menopause, or post-menopause
  • Are a man experiencing declining energy, libido, or physical performance
  • Have tried multiple diets or exercise programs without lasting results
  • Want to understand what is actually driving your symptoms before pursuing medication

What to Expect

Initial Consultation — 60 minutes

A thorough review of your health history, current symptoms, and goals. We order comprehensive lab work at a facility near you prior to this visit so results are available for review at your appointment. During this visit we will review all lab results in detail, and provide a personalized treatment plan including any recommended supplementation, peptide therapies, dietary guidance, or hormone therapy.

Ongoing Check-Ins

We monitor progress and adjust your protocol over time, on a frequency that works for you. You are not handed a plan and left on your own.

We accept outside labs if you have recent results from your primary care provider. If labs are needed, we can order them through our preferred lab network at competitive cash-pay rates.
